The most-liked expansion card on the forum: a Raspberry Pi Pico-class RP2040 on a card that fits the modem slot, exposing GPIO the CM4/CM5 don't route to the outside. Source, PCB design and firmware live on GitHub (CC-BY-SA), and finished boards are sold on Tindie under Quadbit. Other cards, including the oscilloscope concept, build on it.
