Kapton-tape repair for dead keys
The metal domes are held by small kapton dots that let go after a year or two of use; re-taping a dome on a 3 mm strip brings the key back.

trinity's diagnosis after long daily use: keys die when the adhesive kapton dot holding a metal dome to the PCB loses its grip, typically at 18–36 months. The repair is a 3 mm-wide strip of kapton with the dome stuck shiny side down in its centre, placed over the PCB divot and centred so it can still collapse, then trimmed leaving 2–3 cm of tape either side for adhesion. Handle the tape by the ends — finger oil stopped one of five repaired keys until it was cleaned with alcohol.
