bored99 (copperblue on Thingiverse) designed a lid that pivots on a 2 mm carbon-fibre rod and closes on a small magnet, prototyped in PLA and then ordered in transparent resin and black nylon — both worked, and the clear one lets you check the screen without opening it. Total cost was around $10 including the printed parts and hinge fittings. It was made for dusty, humid conditions.

One caveat: the magnet can wake the screen and upsets the trackball's Hall sensors as it swings past, so use a weaker magnet or velcro if that bothers you.
